What's the best hair straightener to use for damaged/dry hair?

Hello there everyone. That's my question.. What's the best straightener to use for that particualar hair type? I was introduced recently to a hair straightening brand called Corioliss which uses ceramic plates, tourmaline, I think, far infared and also negative ions to help reduce frizz in hair. It will cost me about $100.00 though. Does anyone know of anything that is just as good or better that costs less? Let me know. Thanks!

If you have dry damaged hair, the type of iron you use should be the least of your problems. First make sure you are using some type of thermal protectant Like Str8, by RUSK. I use it every day on clients and it always turns out great. As far as Irons go, I have a $100 plus Chi, A FHI, and a few others that are off brand, and to tell you the truth,(not trying to sell you something), All work well. My personal fav. is my iron by a company called "Andis". It's a 1" iron and it alway does the job. it's light and affordable. Runs about $35-$40. Don't just jump on the "its got to be a CHI" band wagon. All mine work very well, but don't forget the thermal protectant, it will make a difference!

No Straighterners!

The best way to find the best products for your hair is to try them all. That would be pretty expensive but go over to a friends house and use some of her stuff. See how it works, and just keep trying new things. Hair may work with products from this company and not that company....it's all trial and error.

If I can suggest something, I would suggest you try a hot oil treatment....for a cheaper way to have great soft and silky hair with less frizzies, warm up some olive oil (regular cooking stuff) in the microwave and massage it into your hair while it is dry. Wrap it up in a warm towel from the drier and sit for an hour or so. Maybe give yourself a facial at the same time. Then get in the shower, and shampoo out all the oil (because water won't get the oil out--oil and water don't mix) and then condition your hair. Viola! Beautiful silky hair.

The most key thing to protecting your locks is to stay away from all heat. Yep, that means no hairdrier, no straightner, no curling iron either....It's very hard not to advert to these products but just try it for a week. Don't blow dry your hair for a week....try it. I know it's hard not to but if you stay away from things with heat such as blow driers, curling irons, straightners, etc....you will notice a HUGE change in the feel and look of your hair. It will be so much more healthy.
