Problems with hair straightener?

i've had my hair straightener for over a year now and it has started to release a gross burned smell when it heats up that seriously stinks up the whole house. i figure that it does this because it's dirty but what do i use to clean it? i'm getting a new one soon, but what should i do for now?

Problems with hair straightener?

when the straigtner isn't on lol use a cold wet towel and wipe the straightner off.(the part that gets hot) and the smell iz normal cause mine does that when i have grease or water in mine...

Window cleaner is a good thing to use or even hydrogen peroxide! Also it could make a burnt smell if your hair is wet.

Problems with hair straightener?

u should get a new hair straightener every 1 to 2 years i think , so i would go get a new one because urs is pro wearing out

Problems with hair straightener?

i dont think there is anything to do, just wit untill you get that new one

Problems with hair straightener?

clean it with vinegar %26amp; a tooth brush

or alcohol.

if you use products in your hair, it might have residue that is burning.

Problems with hair straightener?

Take a damp wash rag, damp not dripping, with your applience UNPLUGGED, wipe the heating surface until it comes clean.

Problems with hair straightener?

there is probably hair inside of it. I would agree with hydrogen peroxide. but make sure you get all of it off because peroxide can damage your hair.

Problems with hair straightener?

Take a slightly damp towel with water on the straightener barrel and it has become warm. BE SURE TO UNPLUG the appliance before cleaning it. Move the cleaning cloth from side to side and up and down before using another cloth to get all grim off of it. Using a cleaner can stripe the nonstick coating on the straightener barrel.

Problems with hair straightener?

when its not hot see if there are any hairs stuck anywhere in the creases from the heat plate... so yeh.... have u ever walked in to a hair salon and smelt an awfull smell?

well that is hair burning... just see if the straightener has removable plates and try to clen under neith it
